Advokat Johan Sidklev, partner at Setterwalls law firm, has been elected to the executive committee of the newly established Russian and CIS Arbitration Network, or RCAN.

The committee comprises members based in London, Paris, Geneva, Stockholm, Moscow and Kiev and includes head of the British-Russian Law Association, Robert d’Cruz, Freshfileds Bruckhaus Derringer partner Noah Rubins and Allen Overy partner Anthony Sinclair along with people from Skadden Arps, Herbert Smith, Clifford Chance and DLA Piper to name a few.

The network aims to organize a mix of educational and social events – including lectures, roundtables, panel discussions, dinner and drink parties. The purpose of the network is to bring together arbitration practitioners, scholars and business people with an interest in Russian and CIS arbitration. The network will facilitate exchange of knowledge and practical experience with a view to further develop high quality international arbitrations in relation to the region.

“The network is an excellent initiative, bringing together people experienced in Russian and CIS arbitration across the jurisdictions and it has attracted tremendous attention in the regions where it has already been launched. It is a pleasure to serve on the committee together with some of the best practitioners in the area of international arbitration”, Sidklev says. “I will be responsible for the network’s activities and spreading in Sweden and the Nordic region. Thanks to the increasing popularity of Stockholm and the SCC as arbitration venue, it is not going to be difficult to attract attention from networkers from other nations. Naturally, I hope to see as many Swedish colleagues as possible joining the network”, he ads.
