Setterwalls expert in government inquiry on environmental legislation

Setterwalls proudly announces that the Ministry of the Environment, following the nomination from the Swedish Wind Energy Association, has appointed Tove Andersson, Partner and environmental law specialist, as an expert in the Inquiry on a revision of the Swedish Species Protection Ordinance.

The Inquiry, led by the special inquiry officer Lars Tysklind, shall review the Swedish Species Protection Ordinance and consider if the regulations regarding compensation in the Swedish Environmental Code, or other parts thereof, should be altered in order to fulfill the purpose of the review.

The background to the assignment is i.a. that the current species protection has been criticized for not being sufficiently applicable, effective and legally secure. The review must ensure a regulatory framework that can, effectively and legally secure, protect endangered species and that is clear to landowners regarding when one is entitled to compensation. To protect property rights, legal certainty for landowners and companies must be strengthened.

As part of the assignment, which must be reported no later than 14 May 2021, an expert group has been appointed.
