Setterwalls is joining the support for new democracies

Setterwalls has participated, together with Mannheimer Swartling, Vinge, Lindahl, Hellström, Lindskog Malmström Law Firm, Törngren Magnell; and Blendow Group, a company that provides training and legal information, in a joint corporate social responsibility project to support new democracies. We are donating a total of SEK 200,000 towards the education for attorneys in countries which are in the process of establishing a democratic legal system.

The collected funds are going to be handed over on 11 December 2008 to Karen Nathis, Director of the CEELI Institute in Prague, which educates judges, prosecutors and attorneys from former non-democratic and totalitarian countries often struck by war.

The recipient, The CEELI Institute in Prague, has, in the most recent years, carried out educational programs and courses in e.g. anti-corruption, human rights defence, commercial law in recently created market economies and court of law processes in democratic legal systems. The participants have come from countries such as the Baltic States, the Balkan countries, former Russian states in Central Asia, Iraq and Egypt.
