Setterwalls has assisted Småkraft AS, which through its newly founded Swedish subsidiary Småkraft AB has acquired a hydro power portfolio from Tekniska verken i Linköping AB (publ), comprised of 22 power plants located in, inter alia, Småland, Katrineholm, Kinda and in the areas of Åtvidaberg and Söderköping.

Småkraft is the largest operator of small-scale hydroelectric power plants in Norway and has an extensive portfolio, comprising more than 160 hydropower plants with an annual output of more than 1.7 TWh. The company is owned by long-term funds managed by the German investment fund manager Aquila Capital. APG, a Dutch pension company, is the majority owner of Småkraft.

Småkraft has a vision of creating renewable values for future generations, and considers the Swedish market as excellent for using its expertise in a sustainable way. The acquisition fits Småkraft’s profile well, and the company considers the acquisition in question, comprising 22 operational hydropower plants, as a great platform to build on in the region Östergötland/Småland. Setterwalls advised Småkraft throughout the transaction.
