Setterwalls has advised Axel Johnson and Axfood in concluding agreements for the largest establishment of solar farms in Sweden
Setterwalls has advised Axel Johnson and its group companies in connection with its signing of agreements with the solar-energy company Alight for the establishment of in total three large-scale solar farms with an aggregate annual production of more than 90 Gigawatt hours (GWh). The projects will result in a capacity duplication compared to the existing capacity of established solar farms in Sweden.
Axfood AB, listed on Nasdaq Stock Exchange in Stockholm, signed an agreement for the construction of a solar farm with an annual normal production of approximately 40 GWh, while Axel Johnson, together with its group companies Axel Johnson International, Dustin, Kicks, Martin & Servera, STC and Åhléns, signed an agreement for a park with an annual production of more than 30 GWh. Both agreements have been concluded with Alight, a leading developer of large-scale solar farms in Sweden. The solar farms are planned to be erected in price areas SE3 and SE4 and will supply the Axel Johnson group with green energy for at least ten years.
The group company Martin & Servera has previously announced that it has signed an agreement with Alight for a solar farm of 19 GWh in Skurup. The construction is currently ongoing and approximately 18,000 of the 35,000 solar modules have so far been installed. Setterwalls advised Martin & Servera in connection with its negotiations of the agreement.
The investments by Axel Johnson and Axfood serve as additional evidence of how large and responsibility taking corporates are now committing significant resources in order to actively participate in the green energy transition.
Setterwalls acted as legal advisor to Axel Johnson, its group companies and Axfood throughout the process.
