Setterwalls has assisted Småkraft AS in connection with its newly founded Swedish subsidiary Strömfallet Småkraft AB’s acquisition of the Orsa hydropower project from Orsa Besparingsskog
Småkraft is the largest operator of small-scale hydroelectric power plants in Norway and has an extensive portfolio, comprising more than 130 hydropower plants with an annual output of more than 1.4 TWh. The company is owned by long-term funds managed by the German investment fund manager Aquila Capital. APG, a Dutch pension company, is the majority owner of Småkraft. Småkraft has a vision of creating renewable values for future generations, and considers the Swedish market as excellent for using its expertise in a sustainable way. Furthermore, the company considers its establishment in Sweden as a natural step in the already successful and ambitious growth strategy. The project consists of eight operational hydropower plants and is Småkraft’s first acquisition outside of Norway. Setterwalls advised Småkraft throughout the transaction.
