Profile

Magnus Örtorp is a partner in the Transactions group and one of the founders of Setterwalls’ Gothenburg office.

Magnus has almost 30 years of experience as a member of the Swedish Bar Association. He advises owners and management on transactions and on other matters of strategic importance to owners and companies. His work focuses on buying and selling shares and businesses. Before joining the firm, he served in a district court and a court of appeal.

His work covers the whole transaction process, from acquisitions and divestments to related commercial matters. Magnus also advises on agreements that govern ownership and cooperation, such as shareholders’ agreements and joint ventures. He also handles the unwinding of ownership arrangements where the owners disagree.

Alongside his advisory practice, Magnus serves companies and organisations in several industries as chairman, board member or board secretary. These roles give him a close understanding of corporate governance and of the issues that owners and management face.
