Niklas Follin is a partner in Setterwalls’ IP/Tech group, focusing on Tech, IT and Data.
Niklas specialises in Tech, IT and Data, with core areas in IT law, data protection and GDPR, AI, cybersecurity, digital regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, and intellectual property and marketing law. He regularly advises Swedish and international companies on commercially critical and complex projects in these fields.
Niklas has broad industry experience with particular depth in the IT and tech sector, as well as extensive experience with tech in other sectors, particularly in regulated industries such as financial services and fintech, healthcare, and defence and security. He assists clients with, among other things, complex IT sourcing projects, licensing of technology and know-how, cyber incidents, and the new digital regulatory frameworks.
A central part of Niklas’s practice concerns Tech, IT and Data throughout the entire lifecycle — from IT sourcing and large-scale procurement projects, acquisitions and contract negotiations, through the establishment of compliance structures, ongoing regulatory and governance matters, data protection and information security issues, to change management, joint ventures, licensing and technology transfers, spin-offs, as well as incident response, distressed projects and dispute resolution.
Niklas regularly conducts training sessions and lectures in his areas of expertise and has been elected as a board member of the Swedish Association for IT and Law (SIJU). He is ranked by Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 in Information Technology and FinTech.
